VP/CFO, Granger Construction Company


Mr. Monea recently retired in January, 2016 from Granger Construction Company in Lansing, Michigan, where he served as Vice President/Chief Financial Officer from 1994 through 2015. He continues to be active in the Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA), and served as the National President in 2000/2001. He is a Past President and Founding Board Member of both the Greater Detroit and Lansing Chapters of CFMA. Mr. Monea also is a certified instructor for several CFMA courses.

Mr. Monea received the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA) 2000 Business & Industry Hall of Fame Award. This award honors CPAs who epitomize “The New Finance Professional”—CPAs who have attributes of leadership, stature as a business partner, vision, a value-added focus, and those who are committed to technology and champion change. Mr. Monea is also a recipient of the CFMA Debra Hahn Memorial Award (2003) and the Danny B. Parrish Outstanding Leadership Award (2011). Mr. Monea also has served three times as a Mentor in the CFMA National Mentoring Program.

Mr. Monea graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, majoring in accounting. Mr. Monea also earned his Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional (CCIFP) designation in 2004 when it was first offered.
