Courtney Channell, CPA, CCIFP – Mrs. Channell is the Controller for MSS Solutions, LLC, a mechanical contractor of 600+ employees headquartered in Charlotte, NC and with seven offices across the Carolinas. MSS serves clients’ needs on new construction and major renovation projects as well as preventative maintenance, equipment repairs, and system upgrades. Before joining MSS in July of 2021, Courtney was the Controller of Primax Properties, LLC, a real estate development and investment company in Charlotte, from 2015-2021. Primax’ construction arm, Primax Construction, Inc. had been an audit client of Courtney’s as prior to joining Primax Courtney spent the first 17 years of her career in public accounting, most recently as a Senior Assurance Manager, specializing in the construction industry. In 2005, Courtney obtained the CCIFP designation. A CFMA member since 2001, Courtney has volunteered on committees and served on the board in her local CFMA chapters (Central Ohio 2001 – 2007, and Charlotte 2007 – present), including a 4-year term as President of the Charlotte chapter, as well as on national committees and task forces including Conference Planning, Emerging Leaders, Finance, and Membership. Courtney is an alumnus of both CFMA’s National Mentoring Program and CFMA at Spring Creek, and is a current member of CFMA’s National Executive Committee. Within the Charlotte community, Courtney serves as Treasurer for Playing for Others, a non-profit that provides a space for teens to explore and answer the questions “Who am I?” and “How will I give of that?” through programming in Personal Development, Service and the Arts; is a member of Charlotte’s Women’s Impact Fund; and is an alumnus of CREW Charlotte’s Authentic Leadership Program and The Arts and Science Council’s Cultural Leadership Training Program. In 2018, Courtney was named one of Charlotte’s 50 Most Influential Women by The Mecklenburg Times. When not busy with work, CFMA, or volunteering in her community, Courtney and her husband, Jeff, enjoy attending their daughter Reese’s swim meets or soccer games, camping (yes, tent camping – with a goal set by Reese to camp in all 50 states (they have crossed 15 off the list thus far)), and traveling (the type of traveling that does not involve tents).
