Mr. Heffernan is an Executive Vice President with Alliant Specialty - Construction Services Group, with a specific emphasis in the Construction, Energy and Real Estate segments. Specific areas of specialty are within property and casualty broking and client fulfillment operations. Mr. Heffernan has over 30 years’ experience in the design, marketing, implementation and management of some of the largest commercial and social infrastructure development projects both domestically and internationally. Mr. Heffernan and his team have specific expertise representing clients in the following segments of the construction and real estate verticals. - Design, placement and implementation of project and portfolio risk transfer programs. - Management of annual property and casualty insurance programs for General Contractors, Heavy Civil Design-Build Contractors, Specialty Trade Contractors, Artisan Trade Contractors, Architects and Engineers. - Design, Placement and Advisory Services for contractor default insurance, contractor prequalification program structures and Contract Surety. Prior to joining Alliant, Mr. Heffernan spent 17 years at Aon Risk Services where he was an Executive Vice President in the Construction Services Group, overseeing construction, energy and real estate risk advisory for the Western United States. Mr. Heffernan has earned a Catalyst Executive MBA designation from Northwestern (Kellogg School of Business) and a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Political Science from Arizona State University. Mike has been recognized as a Risk and Insurance “Power Broker” in construction and real estate, has published numerous white papers on risk management topics specific to real estate and construction and is recognized as a subject matter expert in the specialty areas of owner and contractor-controlled insurance programs, alternative project delivery, performance security and total cost of risk analysis. Mike was invited to serve on the State of California task force for Public and Private Partnerships by Dale Bonner, Secretary of Housing, Real Estate and Transportation and has served as member of the Center for Collaborative Research at Stanford University. Specific experience includes project risk advisory and total cost of risk techniques for general building contractors, civil engineering firms, specialty trade contractors and real estate developers throughout the Country.
