With nearly 30 years’ experience in the finance and accounting professions, the majority of the time being spent in the construction industry; Mr. Miller has been part of the Freestate family since May of 2004. Mr. Miller began his career with a five-year stint as an Accounting/Sales Manager at Carr Lowrey Glass Company, later moving on to become the CFO first at BWI Distribution, then Space Petroleum and finally at Cherry Hill Construction before joining AES. Prior to AES being taken private in 2006, Mr. Miller was the CFO of the division of the Fortune 500 Company under which Freestate operated. His responsibilities include overseeing the company’s financial reporting and compliance, bonding, risk management, banking relations and human resources. In addition to traditional accounting roles, Mr. Miller has a great deal of experience in operations and IT.
Mr. Miller earned an accounting degree from the University of Baltimore and is a Certified Public Accountant. In addition, Mr. Miller is a member of the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants and the Construction Financial Management Association. He serves on the board of ACE (Alliance for Construction Excellence), as well as the board of the Archway Insurance Company, and is a member of the Board of Governors for the Washington Building Congress.
