Why Mental Health Is Smart Business

Jun 4, 2019 2:15pm ‐ Jun 4, 2019 4:00pm

Description

Did you know that the construction industry is the most at-risk industry for death by suicide, with a suicide rate that is four times more than the national average? In order to help protect our most precious resource – our people – this session will identify how companies can promote mental health and integrate suicide prevention by creating a caring culture to improve safety, health, and community.

  • Identify the imperative of addressing mental health and suicide prevention in the construction workplace, and how investment should match that of other safety initiatives
  • Demonstrate how mental health and suicide prevention can be woven into existing safety, wellness, performance management, and employee engagement practices in the workplace
  • Understand the ongoing opioid epidemic and its correlation with suicide, and how employers can help with opioid and other addiction/substance abuse disorders
  • Define what creating a caring culture means and the many positive impacts it can have on a company and its employees

You must be logged in and own this session in order to post comments.
