Jim Bly is a regional Construction Practice leader for Marsh in the Midwest Zone. Marsh's Midwest Construction Practice handles the property, casualty, and surety placements for a number of ENR-ranked contractors, A&E firms, and project owners. The Marsh Construction Practice specializes in helping clients maximize their surety capacity and develop innovative solutions to manage risk.

Jim joined Marsh in 1996. He has 28 years' experience in serving the risk management and surety needs of clients in the Pittsburgh market and managed the region's largest surety office for Fireman's Fund Insurance for nine years. Jim has been part of the National Construction Practice at Marsh for five years, serving as a regional and zonal construction leader. Jim is a regional and national speaker on surety and risk management issues with CFMA, Lorman Education, AGC, and Mechanical Contractors Association (MCA). Topics range from managing risk for profit, handling difficult times in construction, strategies to increase bond capacity, subcontract default, wrap-up insurance and insurance captive pros and cons.

Jim has also served as an advisor to the FASB credit committee on improving financial reporting guidelines and has taught surety and insurance at Clarion University.
