Jeannie Wierman, Retired IRS Agent and Construction Industry Technical Advisor Jeannie graduated from the College of Charleston in 1981 earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting. After working a short time with a local CPA firm and private industry, Jeannie began her 36 year career as a Revenue Agent with the Internal Revenue Service in Oct. 1982 and retired March 30, 2019. In 1989, the State of SC began accepting IRS audit experience as qualifying experience for the CPA license and Jeannie became the first IRS agent to receive the CPA license in June 1989. As a result, Jeannie worked with the SC Board of Accountancy to draft an audit manual to assist other agents seeking their CPA certification. Jeannie was awarded the Outstanding CPA in Government Award from the SC Association of CPAs in 1999. Most of Jeannie’s IRS career was dedicated to specialization within the construction industry, beginning as a local advisor in NC/SC and expanded nationally in 2001. As a technical advisor, Jeannie authored the Construction Audit Technique Guide and Examination & Closing Procedures of Form 8697, Look-Back Industry which are published on the IRS public website. Jeannie lives in Charleston, SC with her husband John and has 2 adult children.
